We are having some VERY! ANNOYING! INTERNET! PROBLEMS! here at Casa Glory Day, which upsets me very much, as shouldn’t the internet be free like air? However the best technical brain in the house (hint: not mine) is on the problem, so hopefully optimum service should resume shortly.
When I started the Baking Sunday initiative there were a few things I was worried about – specifically, pavlova, cream puffs, souffles, anything yeast-based, terrine and brandy snaps.
Have you seen the recipe for brandy snaps? It’s like, cook this biscuit then roll it around the handle of a wooden spoon – it’ll stay stuck together. To which I said, yeah right.
But it actually worked! With a few caveats – I think our stick was a bit thick, so some of the snaps came out more like tacos that rolls. But you know, more room for the whipped cream!
And speaking of whipped cream my piping bag split a seam while I was filling the snaps. Annoyance. Has anyone ever tried one of those metal piping devices? It seems like that might be the go in the future.
The Brandy Snaps tasted lovely – even more lovely the next day for lunch! – and I can see a future in which I’ll make them again.
They are quite a lot of work for a small quantity, but they’re homemade Brandy Snaps, and I don’t think you see those to often, so worth it just for the OMG factor.
